Prism - The Water Project - The School of Wild Listening - Unit 44

The Water Project presented Prism at The School of Wild Listening, a platform for the discussion and dissemination of ecological sound art and music in Unit 44 / Kirkos Space.

In our current age of ecological disconnection, listening provides a means to explore and cultivate a deeper connection to the world around us. This listening includes knowledge for initiating cultural change, allowing us to engage proactively in the conversation about biodiversity and the climate crisis.

Sound frequencies activate a body of water, creating cymatic wave patterns. The waves are the result of the sound energy vibrations passing through the medium. Unique patterns for each frequency are made. The sound is simultaneously played back into the space. The live images were processed in MAX MSP to enhance the colour and outlines of the wave patterns.
