Autopoiesis I-II
Autopoiesis I-II are the first in a series of performative compositions for the No Input Mixer by composer Keith Lindsay. The No Input Mixer, as a performance instrument, allows for the emergence of steady states within chaos, creating what can be described as strange attractors or micro-cycles of cause and effect. Within the electrical current, micro-glitches and frequency modulations have an exponential effect on the larger system, mirroring the behaviour of complex systems theory. This behaviour draws parallels to global socio-environmental systems, which also operate as intricate feedback networks. By exploring these concepts through sound, the work invites listeners to contemplate the interconnected nature of seemingly chaotic systems.
Autopoiesis I-II" for no input mixer performed at Unit 44 as part of Feedback, a concert survey of new works exploring feedback techniques for solo performers by saxophonist Nick Roth.
