The Water Project - WEND - DLR Dún Laoghaire LexIcon

Wend interrogates the roles that rivers play in our lives today and the ways in which the urban built environment acts as a sonic interface for these relationships.

Incorporating field recordings, live performance, photographic images and video in an immersive installation, the work follows these winding, wending paths of water as they move from the mountains to the sea, sculpting in sound a geographical narrative deeply embedded in the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown area

The work was commissioned by the DLR LexIcon Musicians-in-Residence Programme 2017 and developed with the assistance of the Water Management Division of DLR Council Municipal Services. Working across disciplines, The Water Project seeks to develop a deeper understanding of water through the study of its movements, as expressed in sound and light, and to facilitate the creation of immersive environmental installations and performances.
