Hybrid Ecologies
Insect–flower hybrids function as acts of algorithmic pollination. These datasets of endangered species became algorithmic seedbeds, enabling a form of speculative repair. The hybrids generated through diffusion‑based models were not attempts to resurrect lost species, but to imagine kin that carry their visual DNA into new configurations.
This act of speculative repair does not undo the ecological damage but creates a cultural space where loss and possibility can coexist. A space that might feed back into conservation discourse.
